Announcement of the “Robert F. Kennedy Europe High School and University Journalism Award”, with the patronage of Premio Ischia In addition to its traditional awards and other new projects the Fondazione Premio Ischia is supporting the first edition of a journalism competition open to students of Italian universities, the “Robert F. Kennedy Europe High School and University Journalism Award”, aimed at promoting an awareness of the global question of Human Rights amongst future media professionals. Competition for the “Robert F. Art. 1 The “Fondazione Premio Ischia – Giuseppe Valentino” and the “Kennedy Foundation of Europe Onlus” announce the first edition of the Competition for the " Robert F. Kennedy Europe High School and University Journalism Award " with the patronage of the Premio Ischia. ART. 2 The competition is open to the students of those recognised Italian Schools of Journalism selected by the “Fondazione Premio Ischia – Giuseppe Valentino” and the “Kennedy Foundation of Europe Onlus” and will be awarded on the basis of a written or video essay on the subject of: “The preservation and protection of human rights”. Art. 3 Entrants may only submit unpublished works for the competition. Work that has previously appeared in any newspaper or magazine, on the internet or television, will not be eligible for consideration. Entries must be the exclusive and original work of a single individual and comply with the following requirements: Written format – in the form of a newspaper article and no more than two pages in length (maximum 6,000 characters including spaces). Video format - in the form of a television report of no more than 6 minutes duration with two (2) copies being submitted each on a DVD disk. Art. 4 Each contestant shall submit their entry no later than 30th March 2010, written works must be sent in PDF format, attached to an email to the email address journalismaward@rfkennedyeurope.org while video entries on DVD disks, as per Art. 3, must be mailed by registered post with signed receipt (Raccomandata A/R) to the following address: “Robert F. Kennedy Foundation of Europe”, Via XX Settembre n. 40 - 00187 Roma. Compliance with the closing date set out in the preceding paragraph shall be determined as follows: for written entries - the date on which the email with the attached PDF is received; for video entries – the postmark will indicate the moment the entry is received.Each contestant must also send to the email address journalismaward@rfkennedyeurope.org, in PDF format, a certificate that attests to attendance at one of the Schools described in Art. 2 and a completed personal details form (surname, name, place and date of birth, codice fiscale (or equivalent), address, telephone and mobile numbers, email address and an authorization for the treatment of personal details in accordance with the Italian D.Lgs. 196/03). Art. 5 No later than 30th April 2010 a Jury, expressly selected by representatives of the “Fondazione Premio Ischia – Giuseppe Valentino” and the “Kennedy Foundation of Europe Onlus” will decide which work best meets the intentions and spirit of the competition. The decision of the Jury shall be final.At the conclusion of the voting process, the name of the winner of the award described in Art. 1, established by open ballot, shall be announced. The winner shall receive his prize during the celebration of 31st edition of the “Premio Ischia Internazionale di Giornalismo” which will take place at Ischia (NA) from 1st to 4th July 2010. The winner will receive a Bursary to the value of three thousand (3,000) Euro. Art. 6 All contestants shall adhere strictly to the rules set out in this announcement, on pain of exclusion from the competition. Participation is free. After the Competition, the entries submitted will not be returned and entrants are not permitted to use them for other purposes. Art. 7 The secretarial offices of the Schools selected in accordance with Art. 2, shall alone be responsible for informing their students of the contents of this announcement, displaying it within their institutes and forwarding to their students the file containing the personal details form described in Art. 4
