Jury of the Premio Ischia di Giornalismo

30 March 2009: With video and audio links spanning three continents, the International Jury of the Premio Ischia di Giornalismo met at the Roman headquarters of Vodafone Italia today. Representatives of the international media included David Grossman, Peter Stothard (Times Literary Supplement), Timothy Garton Ash (The Guardian), Giovanni di Lorenzo (Die Zeit), Jean Daniel (Nouvel Observateur) and Derrick de Kerckhove. Also present at the meeting, coordinated by the General Secretary of the Premio Dennis Redmont, were Joaquin Navarro Valls and Valentina Alazraki together with Italian jury members Gianni Riotta, Giovani Floris, Emilio Carelli, Franzo Grande Stevens, Lucia Annunziata and Emma Bonino By the end of meeting, at which Benedetto and Elio Valentino represented the Fondazione Giuseppe Valentino, the winners of the Premio’s International Award, the award for Information on Human Rights and that for Italian Journalist of the Year had been decided. Over the next few days, other Juries will gather to decide the recipients of the awards for “Sports Journalist 2009”, “Business Communicator 2009” and “Ischia Mediterraneo 2009”. The names of the winners at this, the Premio’s 30th edition, will be announced at a press conference to be held in early May, at the headquarters of the Foreign Press Association in Rome. The Awards presentation ceremony will take place on Ischia, during the Premio Ischia Festival, 1st – 4th July 2009. The Premio Ischia di Giornalismo enjoys the High Patronage of the President of the Republic, and also that of the Italian Association of Journalists, the National Federation of the Italian Press, the Regione of Campania, the Province of Naples and the Comune of Ischia.
